As part of the UN Decade of Auction for Road Safety initiative, National Transport Month is celebrated each October to create awareness for road safety education in response to countrywide road fatalities.

This year’s official launch, hosted by Minister of Transport Hon. M.J. Maswanganyi on September 29th, will showcase the RTIA-AARTO mobile offices, which emphasise AARTO processes. These mobile offices extend the reach of the Road Traffic Infringement Agency’s services by taking them closer to road user communities.

The overarching theme of this year’s National Transport Month, Together We Move South Africa Forward, encourages all sectors of society to advocate road safety everyday of the year. Responsible driver behaviour and safe public transport is critical in reducing fatalities on South African roads.

Members of the public – passengers and drivers – are encouraged to visit the mobile offices to check outstanding infringements and available options. The five RTIA-AARTO mobile offices, operated and managed by Mobile Processing Solutions, will continue to drive ‘Know Your Traffic Fine Status’ campaigns and road safety collaborations for the duration of National Transport Month. Towards the end of the year, the mobiles will be deployed for a festive season road safety campaign.
